mirror mirror on the wall

mirror mirror on the wall.........

who is the fairest of them all?

As well being used to check our reflections before we face the world, mirrors are multi functional and can be placed in a home making a room look larger and extra spacious, giving an illusion of space.

At Touches we use mirrors like people use photos and decorative pictures. The cream cherub mirror is perfect in a hall or small bathroom. The oval cream distressed mirror is a great mirror to hang over a dressing table or sink to complete a shabby chic, french style room. Our diamond oval mirror can be stand free or attached to the wall and along with the round diamond mirror adds a touch of Hollywood glamour to any room. Heart white mirrors are perfect for decorating a child's room.... come and have a look and introduce the illusion of space into your home.

gorgeous gift wrapping

gorgeous gift wrapping is the perfect way to turn a gift into an experience. For years I have used decorations within my wrapping to present my gifts with the wow factor...... every Christmas present comes with a small token decoration (I prefer to do this than buy a card as it's a small reminder that can be popped on a tree year after year). At Touches we have introduced a range of gift wrapping that's perfect for every occasion.

A small sample of gift wrapping ideas......

confetti scented rose dried petals... perfect for sprinkling on the marital bed, throwing over the happy couple, add a few petals to the inside of a card or present so the smell jumps out at the happy couple.

Just married paper chain..... three metres of brilliance! perfect for decorating a wedding car, a barrier to cross when he carry's her over the threshold for the 1st time, decorate the reception room.

selection of ribbon..... use different designs on clean crisp tissue paper for maximum effect. tie at the top with a big bow and maybe a lucky horse shoe, love token..... simply stunning

cream & rustic brown ribbed card tags...... perfect for adding a simple love you to a card, also great as place settings when tied around linen napkins. perfect for a vintage inspired wedding.

selection of cards......... say how you feel. Write a poem, personal declaration or a simply love you.... with happy birthday, thank you, wedding and blank cards available you can pretty much say it all.

daffodils.... spring has finally sprung

I wandered lonely as a cloud
That floats on high o'er vales and hills,
When all at once I saw a croud,
A host, of golden daffodils;
Beside the lake, beneath the trees,
Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.
William Wordsworth 1804

The sign of spring has finally arrived, with Easter hot on its heels, you only have to look outside for inspiration this year. Nature awakens in Spring, with daffodils, tulips & snow drops peaking out beneath the crisp dewy grass.

Every year I am inspired by a huge cherry blossom tree that grows in my mothers garden, its simply majestic. The mass of pink looks so romatic and warming and then falls like natures confetti covering the surrounding area in a bed of subtle pink petals. This is the time you can find me outside, desperatly taking cuttings and trying to re-create this little bit of natural art into my home. (it never last long though and seem to spend most of my time collecting petals off the floor!)

This season we have tried to incorporate this freshness into some of our new products with the introduction of artificial sprigs and branches that look so realistic even gardeners approve! I have asked a few!

So take a look and maybe add a few, we have popped them in a country earthenware jug, mixed into twig lights to refresh...... so versatile they can go in any room x

storing notes, ideas, recipes.......

Bits of important paper, cut outs of recipes your planning to try, an old butty box being used as a sewing box store........ we house all our bits and pieces in the most random ways, never sure where they are when we need them! Well maybe its time to get a bit of organisation into your life with a spring clean and a tidy system of storing?

Keep all those recipes together, build up a useful and exciting collection of family recipes that can never be lost, cut outs of magazines that you simply cannot part with.... collect and give as a lovely gift for a child's first home or departure for university.

What about a stunning guest book? Brilliant idea if you have a home or cottage that you rent out or allow friends to use. Feed back is always productive! Alternatively, what about having one in the guest room of your home, it will allow friends over the years to let you know about brilliant times spent with you and over the years grow into a diary for you to reminisce on the fun you have had.

An address box to keep all your contacts up to date and again a great University send off gift so your children, nieces, nephews or grandchildren can always contact you xx

That Tupperware box that you have kept your sewing needles, pins and cotton in for the last 10 years really has done you proud. However why not treat yourself and upgrade to a more stylish sewing box.

The other things we tend to keep in tupperware boxes around the house that we can never place our hands on when we need them, the first aid kit! Why not have a look at our stylish storeage boxes, with a traditional theme, these boxes are perfect for knowing exactly what you are short of and where the plasters are when scrapes and accidents happen.

As for your shoes, surely that polish, clothes and brushes deserve a new home? This stylish wooden shoe box is a perfect gift for your dad, husband, brother or grandad. In fact anyone that likes to look after themselves and seems to have everything already! This is a perfect gift that will be appreciated for years to come.

revap your garden with victorian charm

Introduce Classic Victorian Nostalgia To Your Garden
The Spring (believe it or not it is nearly upon us) and we are introducing lots of new garden ranges to our website. With the economic climate as it is the idea of spending more time at home and making the most of our gardens is appealing. So over at Touches we are looking at ways to enhance and inspire your alfresco experience.

One of our most exciting ranges this spring is the Victorian Collection. This collection takes its inspiration from Victorian architecture. It's intricate design can inspire nostalgic memories of holidays spent at Victorian seaside resorts, the piers, grand hotels and promenades being some of the memories it evokes. Combined with the striking green and gold colours these practical sturdy products can become a real focal point in any enchanting garden.

A Snippet of History
The Victorian era has long been recognised as one of the more inspirational, prosperous & industrial change in British history. Culturally, in early 19Th century Britain saw the revival of Gothic architecture clash with traditional classical ideals but by the middle of the 19Th century some of Britain's greatest innovations were showcased at the 1851 Great Exhibition. With this introduction of new technology construction was able to develop incorporating steel as a building component, one of the finest examples of this was the Crystal Palace. In this era of prosperity and development English architecture embraced new methods of construction and styles.
